If you ever use your computer to do any sort of work on a regular basis it is a great idea to:
BACK-UP YOUR WORK!
I have spent the better part of my day troubleshooting the 2006 MacBook Pro that I have been using since the beginning of my collegiate career. I woke up this morning to work on an Integrated Marketing Communication project that is due on Tuesday, only to find that my computer didn't want to "wake up." Apparently I had closed the screen on the unit before it had completely powered down or something. Ultimately it took about six hours of running around and doing everything in my power, plus enlisting the help of several techie types. Two of which I am friends, and another that is a paid computer guy. Add to that a couple blogs and Q&A sites.
I am now in the process of doing a complete back-up of my computer. Honestly, all that noise about "save early, save often" is pretty key. Thankfully it is only one day that I haven't been able to work on this project. Hopefully I can get it all back on track before the deadline of 4 PM Tuesday. If not, I can hang out with an "incomplete" for a day or two. I'd rather not. Either way, this is still much nicer than what might have been the case.
Cheers!
